Flying to Libya from Europe
For the 2 August 2027 eclipse, fly into Benghazi (Benina, BEN), close to the centre line. Tripoli is easier to reach from Europe but sees only a partial eclipse, so from Tripoli you continue east on a domestic flight.
Routes and timetables below are as reported in October 2026. Many European routes are new or seasonal and summer 2027 schedules are not yet published. Always confirm with the airline before you book, and book only once your visa is under way.
From Europe, non-stop
Medsky Airways is currently the only airline flying non-stop from Europe to Benghazi.

More European cities fly to Tripoli (Mitiga, MJI). From there, a short domestic flight takes you to Benghazi.

About Libyan airlines and the EU
Airlines certified in Libya are on the EU Air Safety List. Flights between Libya and the EU are therefore operated with European-registered aircraft and partner operators; Medsky’s European services, for example, use aircraft on the Maltese register and wet-leased European jets.
Your ticket may show a partner operator’s name. That is normal for these routes.
Planning your flights for August 2027
- Visa first. Start the e-visa through the licensed operator before you buy non-refundable tickets. How entry works →
- Arrive by 31 July. Aim to be in Benghazi at least two days before the eclipse on Monday 2 August.
- Expect demand. Seats into Benghazi will be limited around the eclipse. Watch for summer 2027 schedules and book once they open.
